In a move that could open new doors for young footballers, the Muthoot Pappachan Centre of Excellence in Sports (MPCES) signed an MoU with Germany’s Borussia Dortmund (BVB) to launch a long-term, strategic youth development programme in Kerala.
Thomas Muthoot, Director of Muthoot Pappachan Group, which runs the MPCES, and BVB Football Academy’s Managing Director Christian Diercks signed the MoU, which aims to nurture talent, instil life skills and open opportunities for thousands of young players.
“India holds immense untapped football potential,” said Diercks. “Our visit to the MFA’s Malappuram facility laid the foundation for this partnership that will equip players with skills that can be used both on and off the field.”
The long-term partnership will provide players and coaches with world-class training methodologies and also open potential pathways for Indian talent to train in Germany and be part of BVB’s extensive network of academies across the world.
“This partnership is not just about developing players, it’s about shaping futures and awakening potential,” said Thomas Muthoot.
Hannah Muthoot, MPG’s Director of Sports, said: “We are not investing in a programme, we are investing in people. We aim to harness Kerala’s football passion to build character, bridge social divides and create leaders of tomorrow beyond the pitch”.
