Algeria came from behind to beat Jordan 2-1 in a World Cup Group J game on Monday (June 22, 2026), eliminating the Asian debutants from the tournament.
Amine Gouiri and Nadhir Benbouali scored Algeria’s goals after Nizar al-Rashdan gave Jordan the lead.
Former Manchester City player Mahrez made his first start of this World Cup after being on the bench in the opening defeat by Argentina.
Argentina beat Austria 2-0 in Dallas earlier in the day to book their place in the next round.
